The chemical name of nitrocellulose is cellulose nitrate, commonly known as nitrocellulose (abbreviated NC) and cellulose nitrate acid ester,which is mainly composed of refined cotton and wetting agents such as ethanol, IPA and water. Its appearance is white or slightly yellow cotton wadding, tasteless, non-toxic and degradable, belonging to environmental protection materials.
Its chemical formula is (C6H7N3O11)n. Nitrocellulose is insoluble in water but soluble in ketones, alcohols, esters, alcohol ethers, and other organic solvents.
Nitrocellulose can be divided into L Grade Nitrocellulose and H Grade Nitrocellulose
according to nitrogen content.
Nitrocellulose is the main raw material for the manufacture of nitrocellulose solution, which is mainly used in ink, wood coating, leather finishing agent, various nitrocellulose paints, fireworks, fuel and daily cosmetics.
