Chemical property: purplish red powder. It is soluble in o-chlorophenol, slightly soluble in chloroform, pyridine, toluene, and insoluble in acetone and ethanol. It is red and orange in concentrated sulfuric acid, brown (with green fluorescence) in alkaline sodium hydrosulfite solution, and orange in acid solution. Application: Redox 2R is suitable for printing and dyeing of cotton cloth, and also used as organic pigment.
Production method:
Method 1: The vat red GG (Vat Red 14) was treated with ethanol and potassium hydroxide, filtered, evaporated and acidified.
Method 2: The hydrochloride, sulphonate or hydrobromic acid salt of scarlet GG was reduced by fractional crystallization from organic solvent. Or the salt obtained by treating with strong organic acid. Method 3: Red GG can be reduced by treating with aluminum chloride or zinc chloride with or without solvent. The product is then crystallized in stages.
