Ceramic Unglazed Body Painting and Transfer Kit Instruction Manual

I. Product Introduction

This kit is specifically designed for painting on unglazed ceramic bodies. It comes with tracing paper and ordinary colored pencils, allowing for precise tracing and transfer of designs onto the unglazed surface. Then, use underglaze paints, underglaze colored pencils, and underglaze markers for coloring. After firing, the auxiliary lines disappear automatically, preserving the finished product's appearance. Suitable for painting on various unglazed ceramic bodies such as bowls, plates, cups, and ornaments. Even beginners can easily master it.

II. Kit Accessories

1. 10 sheets of ceramic transfer paper, flexible and tear-resistant, clear and translucent.

2. 1 ordinary colored pencil, leaves no trace after firing.

III. Scope of Application

1. Suitable for various ceramic unglazed bodies, used for tracing and transferring underglaze patterns.

2. Suitable for regular unglazed ceramic bodies such as bowls, cups, plates, vases, and ceramic ornaments.

Not suitable for: Finished ceramic products with glaze or those that have undergone high-temperature firing.

IV. Detailed Operating Steps

1. Preparation

Select the pattern to be transferred and mirror it horizontally. Print out the mirrored pattern or display it directly on an iPad or other electronic device.

2. Tracing

Lay the transfer paper flat over the printed pattern, with the glossy side facing up. Use a regular colored pencil to trace the outline of the pattern on the glossy side, ensuring the lines are of uniform thickness.

3. Transferring to the Blank

Place the drawn pattern side firmly against the surface of the blank (with the rough side facing up). Smooth the paper, ensuring the glossy side is as close to the blank as possible. Gently press and wipe with a slightly damp sponge to transfer the pattern completely onto the blank. Alternatively, use a brush dipped in a small amount of water to lightly brush the paper surface; keep the brush tip slightly damp, as too much water will cause the pattern to smudge.

4. Let it dry and peel off the paper

Once the paper and blank are completely dry, slowly and gently peel off the transfer paper. A clear outline of the pattern will remain on the blank.

5. Coloring and Firing: Using the transferred outline as a reference, create underglaze painting. After painting, apply glaze as usual and fire at high temperature in a kiln.

The transferred lines will automatically disappear, leaving a beautiful finished pattern.

V. Product Advantages

1. Special ceramic paper, waterproof and tear-resistant, not easily damaged or deformed when wet.

2. High-temperature erasing brush, leaves no residue when painting, resulting in a clean and neat finished product.

3. Excellent light transmission, zero deviation for copying complex patterns and symmetrical designs.

4. Simple operation, significantly reducing the difficulty of hand-drawn composition.

VI. Precautions for Use

1. Too much water during transfer will cause the pattern to smudge; too dry will result in unclear transfer.

2. Outline and press gently to avoid scratching the ceramic body and transfer paper.

3. Do not use ballpoint pens or felt-tip pens for tracing, as they will make transfer difficult and leave marks after firing.

4. The paper cannot be reused.

5. Store in a dry, cool place, away from moisture and light.

Use the transfer paper within 3 months.

VII. Common Problems

1. Incomplete pattern transfer: The paper is not firmly attached to the blank, or the pressure is insufficient.

2. Blurred lines: The blank has too much moisture, or too much water was applied during the transfer process, or multiple applications were made.

3. No pattern after removing the paper: This is due to a second transfer, or the front and back of the paper were reversed during the transfer.
