Adipic acid , also known as fatty acid, is an important organic dihydric acid, whose structural formula is HOOC(CH2)4COOH. It can produce salt forming reaction, esterification reaction, amidation reaction, etc., and can condense with binary amine or dialcohol into polymer, etc. Adipic acid is a dicarboxylic acid with important industrial significance. It plays an important role in chemical production, organic synthesis industry, medicine, lubricant manufacturing and so on. Its yield ranks the second among all dicarboxylic acids.
Application
1.Adipic acid is used primarily as a raw material in nylon 66 and engineering plastics, as well as in various ester products, as a raw material in polyurethane elastomers, and as an acidifier in various foods and beverages, sometimes better than citric acid and tartaric acid.
2.Adipic acid is also used in medicine, yeast purification, pesticides, adhesives, synthetic leather, synthetic dyes and spices.
3.Adipic acid has a mild and lasting taste, and has a small pH change in a wide range of concentrations. It is a good pH regulator.
