Pentaerythritol
Pentaerythritol is a solid, high-melting crystalline material. It is a four-functionalpolyalcohol with all primary hydroxyl gtgroups. Penta is a key raw material in theproduction of alkyds, including high-solids and waterborne, for many types ofpaint. It contributes to good hardness and drying. It is also used in anumber of esters, such as rosin esters for adhesives and painting inks, fatty aidesters for synthetic lubrican and acrylic acid esters for radiation curing. In addiion, penta is used in phenolic antioxidants for polyolefines. The micronized forms used in fire-retardant systems and PVC stabilizers

Application | It is mainly used in the paint industry. It is the raw material of alkyd resin coatings. It can improve the hardness, gloss and durability of the coatings film. It is also used as raw material of rosin resin for varnish, color paint and printing ink. It can also be used to prepare smoldering coatings, dry oils and vacuum lubricants. Pentaerythritol tetranitrate is a kind of strong explosive (i.e. Taian); its fatty acid ester is a high-efficiency lubricant and plasticizer of polyvinyl chloride; its epoxy derivative is the raw material for the production of non-ionic surfactant, it easily forms authoritative complex with metal, and is also used as hard water softener in detergent formulation, in addition, it should also be used in the production of medicine, pesticides and so on. |
