Basic Magnesium Carbonate

Basic magnesium carbonate, with a molecular formula of (MgCO3) 4 · Mg (OH) 2 · 5H2O and a molecular weight of 485.80, is a white, loose powder or a light and brittle substance. At a density of 2.16g/mL at 20 º C, it is almost insoluble in water, but causes a mild alkaline reaction in water. Insoluble in ethanol, can be dissolved and foamed by dilute acid. Under normal circumstances, it will not decompose. 

Application 

1. Mainly used as a filler and reinforcing agent for transparent or light colored rubber products, and can enhance the wear resistance, bending resistance, and tensile strength of rubber. It can also be used as an additive for paint, graphite, and coatings, and can also be used in industries such as toothpaste, medicine, and cosmetics.

2. Flour processing agents, gum sugar base agents, alkaline agents, desiccants, color protectants, anti caking agents, leavening agents, and acidity regulators. Can be used for table salt, sugar powder, acidified cream, milk, ice cream, biscuits. According to Chinese regulations, it can be used as a flour processing agent with a maximum usage of 5.0g/kg; The maximum usage in flour is 1.5g/kg.

3. Used in the preparation of magnesium salts, pharmaceutical industry, and filtration of clarified liquids. Used as a thermal insulation material, rubber, and special glass ingredient.

4. It is an excellent filler and reinforcing agent for rubber products, with a reinforcement effect better than calcium carbonate and clay. Its refractive index is similar to that of natural rubber, so it is suitable for manufacturing transparent or semi transparent products, such as tape, rubber thread, sports and hygiene products, adhesive tape, hose, etc. Used in chloroprene adhesives as a substitute for lightweight magnesium oxide, improving the transparency of the adhesive solution. It is also used in the manufacturing of magnesium salts, magnesium oxide, fire-resistant coatings, inks, ceramics, glass, toothpaste, body powder, shaving cream, etc. Used as an antacid in medicine. It is also commonly used as a desiccant, filtering medium, anti caking agent, and insulation, high temperature resistance, and fire insulation material.
