Product instruction
Cationic dyes are a type of textile dye, also known as alkaline dyes and salt based dyes. Dissolved in water in a cationic state, cationic dyes are soluble in water and ionize in aqueous solutions to generate positively charged colored ions. The cation of the dye can combine with the acidic group of the third monomer in the fabric to dye the fibers. It is a specialized dye for acrylic fiber dyeing, with advantages such as high strength, bright color, and good light fastness.
Cationic dyes can be classified according to two classification methods: application performance and chemical structure type. According to their application performance, China categorizes existing dyes into ordinary, X-type, and M-type. According to the chemical structure, there are two types of dyes: isolated and conjugated, based on the different forms of cationic charge in the dye molecule and the composition of the dye chromophore conjugates. [1-2] (1) Isolation type cationic dye: The positive charge in the dye molecule is connected to the conjugated system of the isolation group and the dye's chromophore, and the positive charge is fixed on the nitrogen atom of the quaternary ammonium salt. The characteristics of cationic dyes are slightly lower color content, less bright color, but heat resistance, sun resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and good stability. For example, Cationic Red GTL (C.I. Basic Red 18 (C.I.11085), whose structural formula is as follows: Cationic Red GTL is a dark red powder that dissolves in water and appears dark red. It turns red in concentrated sulfuric acid and turns red when diluted. When dyed with acrylic, it turns dark red. Using N-ethylaniline hydroxyethylation, chlorination, and amination; 2-Chloro-4-nitroaniline is diazotized and coupled with the above-mentioned ammonia compound, then methylated, filtered, and dried to obtain. Used for printing and dyeing acrylic and its blended fabrics, as well as for dyeing modified acrylic and polyester, and printing acetate fiber fabrics. (2) Conjugated cationic dyes: The positive charge in the dye molecule is a component of the conjugated system of the dye chromophore. The positive charge is not fixed on a certain atom, but can be domain shifted. The characteristics of this type of dye are bright color, high coloring power, but moderate light fastness. For example, Cationic Yellow X-6G (C.I.48056), whose structural formula is as follows: Cationic yellow X-6G is a brownish yellow powder that is slightly soluble in cold and hot water. When printed and dyed, acrylic fibers appear bright green and yellow in color. The product is obtained by condensation of 1,3,3-trimethylindoline acetaldehyde with p-aminobenzyl ether, filtration, and drying. Used for printing and dyeing of acrylic and its blended fabrics, as well as printing of acetate fibers, polyvinyl chloride fibers, and modified acrylic fibers. Dyeing methods and principles: Cationic dyes are specialized dyes for acrylonitrile fibers. The dyeing method is to use acetic acid and sodium acetate as buffering agents in a weakly acidic (pH around 4.5) bathtub, and to approach boiling dyeing in the presence of a dielectric and appropriate additives. The dyeing mechanism can be divided into three steps: [1] (1) The dye cations in the dyeing bath are adsorbed on the surface of the fibers. (2) Dye cations diffuse from the fiber surface to the interior. (3) The dye cation forms a salt bond with the anionic groups contained in the fiber. Under normal dyeing conditions, the final step of salt formation is an irreversible reaction, which can lead to high fastness and uneven dyeing. The first and last two steps react quickly, while the second step spreads slowly, which determines the entire dyeing speed. Due to the strong affinity between dyes and fibers, in order to achieve a level dyeing effect, it is necessary to strictly control the dyeing bath temperature, pH value, electrolyte, and dyeing retarder.
