Soluble in nitrobenzene, xylene, tetrahydronaphthalene, slightly soluble in ethanol, acetone, benzene, pyridine, toluene,o-chlorophenol.
It appears blu-violet in concentrated nitric acid and orange when diluted. Jujube red in alkaline powder reduction solution.
