Solubility

Soluble in water and show green. Soluble in acetone, ethanol, ethylene glycol ether, o-chlorophenol, and pyridine. Insoluble in benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, and toluene. It turns green in concentrated sulfuric acid, turns light green after dilution, and turns red in alkaline solutions containing sodium hydrosulfite. When dyeing, there is a slight change in color when encountering copper ions, and a slight darkening when encountering iron ions.
